Presentation Title: Determining the ROI on Smart Water Technology
Craig’s Bio: Craig Borland, has worked for Toro Irrigation/Irritrol for 21 years. During that time has managed the Controller Repair department, Managed the Service Center Repair program, Warranty Administrator, Inside Sales, and currently Sr. Customer Resource Specialist. As well provides technical support for the Engineering, Legal, Technical Support, Marketing Departments and Micro division. He earned a B.S. degree in Fruit Science, with a Minor in Ornamental Horticulture, from California Polytechnic University San Luis Obispo. Mr. Borland has taught for the Irrigation Association for the past 15 years, serves on the I.A. Education Foundation Committee as an Subject Mater Expert.
Matthew Korte – Masuen Consultants
Presentation Title: Reduced Water Use in Landscape Management.
Matthew’s Bio: Matt Korte worked on his BS and MS in Biological and Agricultural Engineering at Texas A&M University focusing on bio-sensor technology and methods. Matt has been with Masuen Consulting, LLC for 4 years, has been an active member in the American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers (ASABE) for 8 years, and has 14 years of experience in the green industry. During that time, Matt has been involved in all aspects of irrigation and landscape design, installation, maintenance, and management. He has led numerous real-world technical studies including detailed work with soil moisture sensors, central control, and evaluations of various equipment, strategies, and concepts to maximize water conservation.
Lex Mason – WeatherMatic
Presentation Title: Third Party Sustainability Services: What’s in it for Landscape Contractors?
Lex’s Bio: Lex Mason is Weathermatic’s South Texas Manager, based in Houston. His main focus is on supporting Weathermatic’s strong distributor network in the company’s own backyard. He also works with contractors and property owners in the region, sharing the message of increasing water efficiency through smart irrigation technology and best practices. Mason started in the irrigation industry at 13 with his first job working in a pop-up spray head testing center. Since then he has worked in a variety of roles in the industry, learning by hands-on experience all the way. A Dallas native, Mason’s passion has always been for improving water management practices in his home state.
Rick McNabb – Ewing Irrigation
Presentation Title: Irrigation Efficiency : History, Innovations, and Best Practices
Rick’s Bio: Rick McNabb is celebrating his thirtieth year in the landscape irrigation industry. Since 1986 he has served in the capacities of irrigation designer, manufacturer’s representative, distribution branch manager, sales, and product specialist. Rick is a Texas Licensed Irrigator and a Certified Landscape Irrigation Auditor. He holds a bachelors degree from Southwestern University in Waxahachie, TX and a Masters degree in Business Administration from California Coast University. Rick is currently serving as an Account Manager and Trainer for Ewing Irrigation and Landscape Products in South Texas.
